Ultimate Track Car Challenge

Want to find out once and for all who's really the fastest guy on track? Get ready for the Grassroots Motorsports Hankook Ultimate Track Car Challenge. You are receiving this email because you are a NASA HPDE 4/TT or race licensed driver. That means you are eligible to participate in this prestigious event!

As in last year's inaugural event, GRM will pit a wide variety of cars against one another in a NASA Time Trial format. It all happens at Buttonwillow Raceway Park in California June 8. There is still a few spots available for a few more talented drivers. Additionally, more than 1 hour of "Open Track" time is available to get your car dialed in on Saturday before the 6 hour Endurance race. Visit the weekend schedule here http://socal.drivenasa.com/events/SchedBW-June08.pdf

Classes and complications are few, with only two categories: Shop Class for those who build and prepare cars for a living, and Independent Study for the do-it-yourself-ers. Each category breaks into two classes, Varsity and Junior Varsity. If a car features forced induction, racing slicks, a tube frame, or an engine with rotors or more than four cylinders, it runs in Varsity. If a car is naturally aspirated, based on mass production, runs DOT legal tires, or has four cylinders or fewer, it falls in the JV class.

Despite the similar formula, this year's UTC Challenge is anything but a repeat of last year's event. Expect some new twists this year, like the Green Car Challenge. Grassroots Motorsports has teamed up with CarDomain for this unusual event just for electric cars, hybrids, grease cars and other green machines.
